What is this for?

Forum For the Future, a sustainability non-profit, has been commissioned by Power to Change to help create a bold and inspiring vision for community business in 2030 - by and for the sector.

What are your hopes and fears for the future of community business? How might it contribute to a thriving society, economy and environment in 2030? What do individuals or organisations need to do to make this happen?

Forum For the Future want to hear what you think!

Community businesses deliver a wide range of services and activities, from community energy and finance to community pubs, hubs and art centres. They take a range of forms, from CICs and social enterprises to local Co-ops and mutuals, and much more.

How you can get involved

If you want to be part of the conversation, you can do any of the following:

1) Facilitate a long conversation with other community businesses in your are using this guide.

2) Facilitate a short conversation using this guide.

When you have completed your conversation, please send your notes – or photos of your flipcharts – to Daniel Ford at d.ford@forumforthefuture.org by 20th April 2018. Please indicate if you would not like a chance to see and comment on the draft vision when it is ready.

3) Fill in this short online survey by 27th April 2018

How your input will be used

This is happening alongside workshops facilitated by Forum for the Future in Manchester and Bristol, using a similar structure and format. They are also working with Goldsmiths University to review the existing literature and perspectives on community business.

After having gathered and clustered your ideas, Forum for the Future will hold 3 workshops with Power to Change and the project partners – Co-operatives UK, Locality, Plunkett Foundation and Social Enterprise UK – to agree a vision and roadmap for the future of community business.
