South East London Community Energy

Description

You can now invest in South East London's first community energy share offer. South East London Community Energy (SELCE) volunteers have invested over 4,000 hours to bring you the opportunity to invest in creating clean energy on schools and eliminating fuel poverty.

We are raising £250,000 to install solar panels on Ashmead and Horniman Schools in Lewisham and Mulgrave School and Charlton Park Academy in Greenwich. We would install 198kWp of solar across these sites, generating over 178,000kWh of clean electricity and saving approximately 94 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. Moreover, the schools will save an estimated £358,000 in electricity costs over 20 years. This will enable them to direct more funds into educating the future generations.

A combination of the government feed-in tariff subsidy and sale of electricity will also allow us to generate a fund for tackling fuel poverty in South East London. SELCE has already been providing much needed help to those who have to choose between heating and eating. Your investment will help us raise £90,000 over 20 years to continue this vital work.

We intend to pay 4% interest per annum to our investors and you may be eligible for tax benefits as well. Our share offer has been awarded 'The Standard Mark' by the Community Shares Unit. This verifies that we meet national standards of good practice.
